Statement: Tokyo Named Host City Of 2020 Olympic Games

TOKYO NAMED HOST CITY OF 2020 OLYMPIC GAMES
TORONTO – Today, the Canadian Olympic Committee released the following statement of congratulations as Tokyo, Japan was named host city of the 2020 Olympic Games during the 125th International Olympic Committee Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
“On behalf of the Canadian Olympic Committee, I offer my sincere congratulations to the City of Tokyo, the Nation of Japan, the Tokyo 2020 bid organizing committee and to Tsunekazu Takeda Takeda, President of Tokyo 2020 and of the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) for this momentous achievement. The people of Japan have already demonstrated their ability to host a magnificent Games on three separate occasions and Canada looks forward to joining our sport colleagues from around the world in 2020 to once again celebrate Japanese hospitality under the umbrella of sport excellence.”
